Description: The S-400F is a navalized version of the S-400 Triumf ground-based long-range air defense system. It will become the most dreadful shipborne air defense system ever deployed once cleared for operational service. The S-400F is being developed to replace the obsolete S-300F ship-based air defense installed on the Kirov-class missile cruisers operated by the Russian Navy as part of a modernization program. The newest Russian ship-based air defense system will utilize the long-range 48N6E2 and 48N6E3 surface-to-air missiles as well as the medium-range 9M96E/E2 surface-to-air missiles. The first vessel equipped with the S-400F, Admiral Nakimov, is expected to re-join the Russian Navy by 2015.
