Description: The Spider communications intelligence (COMINT) system has been developed by Leonardo to detect, intercept, identify and geo-locate complex target communications in dense environments. The Spider has been designed for integration onto airborne platforms such as ATR 72MP and King Air fixed-wing aircraft as well as Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) drones. The antenna weighs less than 20 kilogram and has been designed to operate in real-time. Combined with SAGE electronic support measures (ESM)/ electronic intelligence (ELINT) the Spider delivers Signals Intelligence (SIGINT) capability. The Spider system was launched in July 2018 and is expected to be ready for deployment within in 2019.
