Description: The Embraer 170 AR (Advanced Range) is an enhanced version of the Embraer 170 regional jet incorporating structural reinforcements that allow the aircraft to be operated at takeoff, landing and zero fuel weights above the current maximum values. The AR version provides 300 nautical miles of additional range and a payload increase of more than 1,500-lb. The new version was launched in May 2007 and is expected to receive type certification by December 2008. Retrofit kits are available to convert existing Embraer 170 into Embraer 170 AR.

Sunday, November 11, 2007 Virgin Nigeria order for seven Embraer 170 AR and three Embraer 190 AR jets plus options for six Embraer 190 ARs and purchase rights for eight Embraer 190 AR or Embraer 195 AR jets. The contract is valued at $306.5 million and could reach $805.5 million, if all options and purchase rights are confirmed. The aircraft are scheduled for delivery beginning in September 2008. The deal was announced on November 11, 2007.
