Description:
The Mk 57, formerly known as the Peripheral Vertical Launch System (PVLS), is being developed to meet the requirements of 21st century fighting ships such as the DD(X) destroyer and the CG(X) missile cruiser.
The Mk 57 will be ready to fire lightweight missiles such as the ESSM or the massive Standard SM-3 missile related to sea-based midcourse ballistic defense.
