Description: The NetFires is an indirect fire, beyond line-of-sight weapon system designed for the US Army Future Combat Systems (FCS). It comprises the Container Launch Unit (CLU), the Loitering Attack Missile (LAM), and the Precision Attack Missile (PAM).

The CLU is HMMWV compatible, and features 15 vertical-launch missiles in a 4x4 re-loadable rack. The LAM features 100 lbs weight, LADAR (Laser Radar) seeker, 45 minutes flight endurance and 7-inch diameter. The PAM features 100 lbs weight, dual-mode seeker, multi-mode warhead, 50 km range and 7-inch diameter. The PAM and LAM missiles will be retargetable missiles using advanced data-link and will provide images from the target area.

On 22 March 2004, Netfires LLC (a Lockheed-Martin and Raytheon company) was a awarded a six-year $1.1 billion contract for NLOS-LS (Non Line-Of-Sight Launch System) SDD covering the LAM and PAM missiles, and the Container Launch Unit (CLU) design and development.

In 2004 the US Navy signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US Army to procure the NLOS-LS PAM weapon system for the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). The LCS armed with revolutionary NLOS-LS PAM was projected to be ready in fiscal year 2008.

On August 29, 2006, NetFires LLC, a Raytheon Lockheed-Martin joint venture, was awarded a $55 million contract to proceed with the System Development and Demonstration (SDD) of the NLOS-LS for the US Navy's Littoral Combat Ship (LCS). The first Navy NLOS-LS system was slated for integration into the USS Independence (LCS 2) in 2008.
