Description: The 9M55 is a family of 300mm rockets designed to perform a wide range of missions carrying different payloads. The 9M55 rockets are employed by the Soviet/Russian Smerch long-range multiple launch rocket artillery system. Each rocket projectile weighs approximately 800 kg and is 7.6 meters in length.

The 9M55S rocket features a thermobaric warhead designed to defeat troops unsheltered and under light field fortifications, light armored vehicles and buildings. The thermobaric warhead explosive weighs 100 kg and provides 1,000 Celsius degrees of temperature within 1.44 seconds over an area of more than 25 meters of diameter. This kind of weapon was employed by the Russians with impressive results in Chechnya.
