Description: The Advanced Airborne Sensor (AAS) is the follow-on to the US Navy's Littoral Surveillance Radar System (LSRS) operational on the P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft. The AAS sensor is being developed by Raytheon for the P-8A Poseidon aircraft following a multi-year developmental contract issued by the US Navy in July 2009. Incorporating of Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) technologies, it will be highly supportable, maintainable, scalable and upgradeable, reducing unit production and life cycle costs. The AAS radar will provide intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) in the littoral environment with next generation line-of-sight capability.
