Description: The AN/AQS-24C is an advanced mine hunting sonar developed by Northrop Grumman for the US Navy. The new variant of the ASQ-24 provides high-speed capability to detect and classify moored mines while simultaneously hunting bottom mines. Compared with the B variant, the C encompasses an ahead-looking topographic large area survey (ATLAS) volume search sonar capability and associated mine hunting software. The AQS-24C will be deployed by the MH-53E Sea Dragon helicopter beginning in the 2020-2021 timeframe.
