The new radar system features Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI) capabilities based upon Active Electronically Scanned Array (AESA) technology. The GMTI capability includes dismounted troops. The ALR-E all weather radar is scheduled for integration onto the Bombardier Q400/DHC-8 aircraft by 2020.
