Description: The Commander's Independent Thermal Viewer CITV is a key element of the US Army's M1A2 Abrams main battle tank. It allows tank's commander to search for another targets while tank's gunner is still engaged with previously identified targets. This "hunter-killer" concept increases the effective rate of fire by over 30%. CITV features a 360-degree rotation capability, a second generation FLIR and also functions as a backup main gun sight. In addition, CITV allows commander to search the scene without turret movement, increasing tank's survivability and providing longer silent-watch operations. The CITVs are installed on M1A2 Abrams SEP main battle tanks.
