Description: The Digital Joint Reconnaissance Pod (DJRP) is an airborne electro-optical observation pod designed by Thales UK for integration onto fighter aircraft. The reconnaissance pod is equipped with high resolution/wide-area coverage daylight and infrared cameras to gather battlefield imagery as it flies overhead. The digital images from the pod are then exploited by Image Analysts on the ground to assess what tactical decisions need to be taken. So far, the DJRP pod has been selected by the South African Air Force (SAAF) to equip the Gripen aircraft. Integration flight trials started in September 2010 with handover to the SAAF expected soon after the trials have been completed.
