Description: The IAI Elta EL/M-2055 is a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) and Ground Moving Target Indicator (GMTI) sensor designed to provide all weather Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities onboard manned and unmanned aircraft. The EL/M-2055 sensor features modular, open architecture and can be easily configured for a broad range of installations, spanning from small-tactical Unmanned Air Vehicles (UAVs) and light reconnaissance aircraft through high performance Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) UAVs and manned reconnaissance systems. It utilizes the latest technologies to substantially reduce weight, volume and power consumption, concurrent with significant performance improvement.
The EL/M-2055 radar comprises three modules: signal processor module; low, medium and high-power transmitter module; and compact, mid-size and large aperture antenna module. To target a wide range of platforms the sensor is provided in four versions: EL/M-2055D, EL/M-2055DL, EL/M-2055DX and EL/M-2055M. D, DX and DL variants can scan an area of 2,000 square kilometers per hour with the M variant scanning 10,000 square kilometers per hour. D (Downsized) is the smaller version with medium power transmitter and compact antenna for installation into tactical UAVs such as I-VIEW using the MOSP pod mount. It has a maximum range of 40 kilometers, weighs 38 kg and takes 800 Watts of power.
DX (Downsized eXtended range) similar to D but with a mid-size antenna optimized for light reconnaissance aircraft. DX has a maximum range of 60 kilometers, weighs 50 kg and takes 850 Watts of electric power. DL (Downsized Long range) uses a large aperture antenna and is tailored for MALE UAVs and reconnaissance aircraft. It has a maximum range of 80 kilometers, weighs 60 kg and takes 850 Watts of power. M uses the high-power transmitter and large aperture antenna and is intended for high altitude MALE UAVs and long-range reconnaissance aircraft. It has a maximum range of more than 100 kilometers, weighs 100 kg and needs 3,000 Watts of electric power.
