Description: The Grifo-E active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar has been in development by Leonardo since the early 2010s based upon the Grifo M-Scan variant while incorporating E-Scan technology. It delivers new operating modes as well as advanced capabilities not seen in previous Grifo radar family variants. The Grifo E advanced fire control radar is lightweight, cost-effective and requires less power consumption compared with its predecessors. The new radar platform has been designed focusing on modularity and flexibility to allow integration into light attack aircraft and larger aircraft. The Grifo-E was launched officially in July 2018, is expected to qualified in 2019 and is expected to be fielded beginning in 2020.
