Description: The Integrated Communications Navigation and Identification (ICNI) system has been designed to meet US Air Force's requirements for the F/A-22 Raptor air dominance fighter. ICNI avionics will provide to the F/A-22 Raptor integrated communications, navigation and threat identification through one one integrated system. Due to classified nature of ICNI and Raptor weapon system, its sophisticated features remain undisclosed.
In August 2005, Northrop-Grumman made public that it was working on the CNI avionics to enhance its network-centric warfare capabilities for the next-generation F/A-22 weapon system. The new capability will allow to link communications, sensors and weapon systems in an interconnected grid that will be available for warfighters, decision makers and support personnel. Jam-resistant Link 16 data link was slated to be added to CNI under this effort.
