Description: The Irtysh-Amphora-B-055 is an state-of-the-art hull-mounted, long-range sonar system intended for the Russian Navy's Borey-class strategic submarines. It features automated digital signal management to perform regular functions such as noise-direction finding, echo-ranging, classification of targets, communication. The Irtysh-Amphora-B-055 sonar also performs the functions of small acoustics, such as measuring ice thickness and speed of sound, mine-detection, search for ice openings and ice leads, detection of torpedoes. Russian specialists claim that the new Russian sonar exceeds in range and performance to the latest US Navy's sonar systems provided to Virginia-class submarines.
