Description: The Low Tier Air and Missile Defense Sensor (LTAMDS) is a new generation radar being developed as the replacement for the US Army's Patriot air defense system radars which are 50 years old as of 2017. The LTAMDS network centric capable radar is being developed by Lockheed Martin and Northrop Grumman to support the US Army's Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) concept. The new radar will generate a comprehensive picture of the battlefield helping the operator to choose the best option to shoot down incoming threats. In October 2019, the US Army selected Raytheon to deliver six LTAMDS radars under a $384 million contract.
