Description: The Lockheed Martin Legion pod is a multi-functional sensor system intended to support targeting operations between multiple aircraft in radar-denied environments. The pod supports detection and tracking of airborne targets and is fully compatible with fighter and non-fighter aircraft. The Legion pod includes the IRST21 infrared sensor among several sensors with advanced networking and data processing technology. Lockheed Martin unveiled the Legion pod on February 12, 2015. Initial test flights onboard an F-15C aircraft are planned in 2015 and will continue through 2016. The Legion IRST pod was selected for the F-15C aircraft in September 2017. More than 130 pods will be provided for the US Air Force F-15C fleet.
