Description: The Leonardo-Finmeccanica Osprey is a lightweight airborne, 360-degree full coverage, flat-panel antenna, surveillance radar lacking moving parts thanks to the use of the active electronically scanned array (AESA) technology. The Osprey E-Scan radar was developed and is produced in the United Kingdom (UK). It is especially well suited for small and compact aircraft such as helicopters and unmanned aircraft systems. Norway became the launch customer for the Osprey radar in May 2016 to equip its fleet of 16 AW101 search and rescue helicopters. The Norwegian AW101 helicopter is fitted with a frontal antenna and two at the rear to provide full coverage. In October 2016 the Osprey was selected for the MQ-8C unmanned aircraft.
