Description: The Radio Optical Phased Array Antenna (ROPAA), also known as radio photonic radar and ROFAR, is an advanced radar system based upon new physical principles that will enable detection of stealth aircraft and other hard to see threats such as stealth surface ships. This new ultra-wideband technology makes possible to generate a near TV quality image of a flying object such an aircraft and/or a missile. The KRET Corporation started the development ROPAA radar before 2015 and is expected to test a working prototype onboard the Su-35 jet by 2021. The new ROPAA radar may enter service in the mid 2020s equipping the Su-57 and upgraded Su-35 aircraft. This new technology may be employed to develop new radar systems for surface ships and submarines.
