Description: The Rafael Recce-U is a derivative from the RecceLite tactical reconnaissance pod for combat aircraft intended for unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) applications. This self-contained, multi-sensor ISR (intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance) system simultaneously collects high-resolution infrared and visual digital images, day and night, within a very wide field of regard, in accordance with an automatic mission plan and/or manual operation. These high resolution images are then viewed and interpreted in real time at the ground exploitation station.

The Recce-U system comprises a persistent ISR payload, ground data link station (GDLS) and ground exploitation station (GES). The Recce-U also includes a revolutionary inertial line-of-sight (LOS) control which enables routine scanning of extremely wide areas irrespective of the UAVs maneuvers and facilitates improvised explosive devices (IEDs) detection as well. Rafael showcased this new ISR pod at the Paris Air Show 2009.
