Shark

Also Known As: RAN-1101

Origin: Israel

Contractor/s: Rafael

Description: Shark, also known as RAN-1101, is a shipborne electronic countermeasures (ECM) system delivering a very high effective radiated power to blind incoming threats. Shark was designed by Rafael to defeat multiple and simultaneous threats using power management with sophisticated techniques and trackers. Multi-Beam Transmitters (MBAT) technology allows for simultaneous coincidence jamming, high transmitting power and fast beam switching. The primary mission of Shark is to blind airborne and surface radars as well as missile seekers. C-PEARL Electronic Support Measures (ESM) along with Shark form the SEWS Electronic Warfare (EW) suite which provides target identification, jamming and deception.

In January 2006 Rafael made public that was awarded a contract for delivering Shark ECM systems to an European corvette program.
