Description: The ChangZheng 8, CZ-8 or Long March 8, is a medium-lift space launch rocket being developed by China Academy of Launch Vehicle Technology (CALT) on the basis of the CZ-3A and CZ-7 space rockets core. The CZ-8 will be provided with two solid propellant boosters with the aim to place a 4.5 metric tons payload into sun synchronous orbit or a 2.5-ton payload into geosynchronous transfer orbit. The first launch of a CZ-8 rocket is planned by the end of 2018 or early 2019. The existence of the new Long March rocket was revealed in February 2017.
