Description: The Light Combat Aircraft (LCA) has been developed by Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) to meet the requirements of the Air Force of India as a front-line multi-role fighter through 2020. It features a tailless, single-seat, single-engine, delta-wing configuration for enhanced maneuverability as well as short takeoff and landing. It will be able to accommodate air-to-air and air-to-surface weapons.

The LCA weapon system leans on seven hard points, three below each wing and one inner hard point. Each hard point can carry a variety of bombs, missiles, and rocket launchers to perform air-to-air and air-to-surface missions. The aircraft sensors are fully compatible with beyond visual range air-to-air missiles and additionally it can be equipped with electronic warfare payloads and other equipment.

The LCA Trainer is a two-seat aircraft intended to provide training for Tejas/LCA pilots. It features aerodynamic commonality with the Naval variant of the same aircraft ordered by the Indian Navy. The Indian Air Force has a requirement for 20 LCA trainers.
