Description:
The Mirage 2000 is a delta-wing, single engine, multi-role aircraft designed to provide air defense, deep strike, nuclear deterrence, reconnaissance and close air support for the French Armed Forces. It can accommodate a wide range of weapons and electronic equipment in accordance with the mission profile. It features two DEFA 554 30mm guns mounted internally.
The Mirage 2000 is the last member of the successful French Mirage fighter aircraft family. It was deployed in 1983 by the French Air Force and since then it has been purchased by many other countries all over the world such as Egypt, Greece, India, Peru, Qatar, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
Different variants of the Mirage 2000 aircraft were deployed successfully during the Gulf war and over the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s.
The Mirage 2000B was the first variant of the Mirage 2000 aircraft achieving initial operational capability in 1983 with the French Air Force. It is a twin-seat aircraft designed to provide air defense and training on the Mirage 2000 platform with a secondary ground attack capability. The pulse-Doppler RDI radar acts as the backbone of the weapon system.
