Description: The A-050 Ekranoplan is a new low flying airplane developed by Central Design Bureau for Hydrofoil Alexeyev and equipped with avionics provided by Scientific Research Institute of Aircraft Equipment (NIIAO), a KRET subsidiary. The 54-ton A-050 aircraft is especially well suited for service with the Federal Border Service, Ministry of Emergency Situations, Federal Security Service and the Russian Navy to serve as patrol aircraft. The aircraft will be able to carry 9 tons of cargo or 100 passengers over distances of up to 5,000 kilometers at a cruising speed of 350-450 km/h. The propulsion system may consist of R-195 starting engines and TV7-117SM boosters. The Ekranoplan or Flarecraft combines the characteristics of an airplane and ship flying with ground effect over the surface at very low altitude (several meters). The A-050 may be able to fly over water, land and/or snow while being stored on land.
