Description: The Albatros unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is being developed by AS Yakovlev design bureau is intended to provide airborne reconnaissance day/night and environmental monitoring. The information gathered by the Albatros' TV or infrared imaging payload is transmitted in real-time to the UAV's ground control station. In addition, environmental sensors can be integrated on the Albatros. Basically, Albatros is a low-altitude, tilt-rotor aircraft provided with a two 160-hp turboprops mounted at the edge of both wings.
A single Albatross surveillance system comprises the air vehicle, a ground control station and servicing equipment that may be based on a ship or two KAMAZ-type trucks. Albatros air vehicle may take off in short airfields or vertically and is recovered or lands vertically. The system may be deployed in support of naval or ground forces. The Albatros can remain on station at ranges of over 50 to 100 km for periods of time of approximately seven hours.
