Description: The People's Liberation Army Air Force (PLAAF) KJ-500 is an airborne early warning and control (AEW&C) aircraft fitted with a phased array radar antenna within a circular dome atop the fuselage. The new radar has been developed by the Nanjing Research Institute of´┐ŻElectronic Technology and can handle up to 100 airborne targets simultaneously. The radar dome also includes a satellite communications (SATCOM) antenna and two passive electronic intelligence arrays. The KJ-500 air surveillance aircraft was built by the Shaanxi Aircraft Corporation entering service with the PLAAF in March 2015.
