Description: The CH-47 Chinook is a twin-engine, tandem-rotor, heavy-lift transport helicopter in service with the US Army and other Armed Forces worldwide. It is enabled to transport ground forces, supplies, ammunition, and other battle-critical cargo. In addition, the CH-47 Chinook can be employed for medical evacuation, aircraft recovery, fire fighting, parachute drops, heavy construction, civil development, disaster relief and search and rescue (SAR).

The US Army Special Operations Aviation Command MH-47G Block II Chinook helicopter will feature the improvements of the CH-47G Block II helicopter. These improvements will extend the airframe service life and enhance its performance. In July 2018, the US Army ordered the first four MH-47G Block II aircraft from Boeing to be delivered by June 29, 2020. The new aircraft first flight should happen before the end of 2020 and the entry into service in the 2021-2023 timeframe.
