Description: The Maritime Surveillance Aircraft (MSA) is a Boeing initiative to provide the capabilities of the Boeing 737-based P-8A Poseidon into an smaller commercial aircraft such as the Bombardier Challenger 605 business jet. The MSA is intended for maritime surveillance missions as well as anti-piracy, coastal and border security and search and rescue (SAR) missions. The platform will be fitted with P-8A's mission system, sensors and communications equipment. Boeing selected Field Aviation as the main sub-contractor responsible for modifying the aircraft into the MSA configuration. The prototype aircraft intended to demonstrate the MSA capabilities is a Challenger 604 scheduled to fly in 2014. The production MSA aircraft would be available for the global export market beginning in 2015.
