Description: AAI Corporation Shadow 400 UAV has been designed to perform airborne Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) as well as observation and battle damage assessment missions in support of naval forces. A single Shadow 400 system includes a control station, multiple air vehicles, a hydraulic launcher, logistics support, payloads, a net recovery system with automatic landing, ground support equipment, shipboard integration, stabilization equipment, and a radome antenna set. Both, unmanned aerial vehicles - including launch and recovery operations - and the control station, can be deployed/based from ships or land.
This UAV features multiple launch and recovery methods, airframe with more than 85 percent of composite material, multiple sensor capability, video recorder, dual redundant data links and long-life emergency battery. So far, the Shadow 400 UAV has been deployed with United States allied naval forces.
