Description: The Umkhonto is a high velocity, vertically-launched, infrared homing missile designed to provide defense against simultaneous attack of aircraft and missiles. Up to 8 Umkhonto missiles can be launched simultaneously. The Umkhonto missile can be integrated in ships and ground-based air defense systems.

The Umkhonto missile has been selected by Finland for its MEKO A-200 corvettes. It will provide 360-degree coverage and high maneuverability to engage the most advanced threats thanks to its thrust vectoring control. The South African Navy has also ordered the Umkhonto missile system.

In September 2005, Denel released that the Umkhonto missile had concluded performance flight trials and live firings tests paving the way for the missile entry into service.
