Description: The Lynx is a lightweight, twin-engine, multi-role helicopter designed to meet the requirements of the British Army and the Royal Navy. The naval Lynx helicopter was ordered by the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Denmark, Brazil, Netherlands, Nigeria, and Norway. It was deployed successfully for the first time during the Falklands conflict in 1982.

The combat-proven Super Lynx naval helicopter has been designed to operate from small-sized ships. To date, it has been selected by 13 navies worldwide and about 234 aircraft have been ordered. The shipborne helicopter accommodates radar, dipping sonar, FLIR, Sea Skua missiles and torpedoes. They can perform anti-submarine warfare (ASW), anti-surface warfare (ASuW), search and rescue, and vertical replenishment missions.

Super Lynx are in service with the armed forces of Denmark, Brazil, Germany, Portugal, Republic of Korea, Malaysia, Oman, Thailand and the United Kingdom. As of early 2005, the latest variant known as Super Lynx 300 was on order or in service with the Armed Forces of Thailand, Malaysia, Oman, South Africa (4) and the United Kingdom. Super Lynx 300 is powered by two CTS800 engines produced by LHTEC, Rolls-Royce and Honeywell joint venture.
