Description:
The HERTI is a fully autonomous unmanned air vehicle (UAV) developed by BAE Systems to conduct surveillance and reconnaissance operations in a variety of operational scenarios to both military and civil customers. The HERTI delivers real-time, high-resolution imagery while being seamlessly integrated with information networks. The information gathered by HERTI can be relayed to ground stations, forward deployed units and/or command centers. The UAV system has been designed to support rapid deployments with reduced logistics needs.
The HERTI aerial vehicle features a single three-blade propeller located in the upper inner fuselage and a wheeled fixed landing gear. The sensor suite is mounted under the nose. BAE Systems unveiled the HERTI at Farnborough International Air Show 2006. The Royal Air Force (RAF) is evaluating the potential benefits of introducing the HERTI as an UAV system under the Project Morrigan which is expected to conclude in 2008. Project Morrigan will introduce the HERTI into military exercises in the United Kingdom (UK).
