Patria

Description: The Modular Airborne Sensor System (MASS) is a Mini-UAV developed by Patria to perform a variety of missions such as reconnaissance, surveillance, border control, rescue operations and Nuclear Bacteriological and Chemical (NBC) pollution assessment for both civil and military customers. The air vehicle is equipped with either daylight and infrared/night cameras and has been designed to operate autonomously and to be assembled/disassembled without tools. In early June 2007, the Finnish Defence Forces awarded Patria a contract to test the MASS to provide surveillance solutions for replacement of anti-personnel mines.

The whole Modular Airborne Sensor System, weighing less than 30 kg, can be transported by two persons in a transportation case. Each system comprises: one to three air vehicles with multiple payload options; communications suite; telescopic antenna mast; launching equipment; batteries; spares; and a ruggedized laptop acting as the ground control station. The MASS has been designed to be deployed/packed within eight minutes.
