Searcher II
Origin Israel
Contractor/s
Israel Aerospace Industries Ltd. (IAI)
|
Description:
The Searcher II is a derivative of proven Searcher Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) owned by the Israel Air Force. The Searcher II UAV has been designed to meet present and future requirements for UAVs. The new aircraft features excellent engine and aerodynamic performance, handling qualities, and a new universal ground control center compatible with other UAVs produced in Israel.
The Searcher II UAV provides real-time imagery, video and any other form of information collected over enemy territory. Communications and control between the UAV and the ground control center are done via a line-of-sight datalink or an airborne data relay for beyond line of sight operations. If datalink loss the UAV returns automatically to its base. Takeoff and Landing operations are fully automated for these type of aircraft.
The Searcher II UAV is currently in service with the Israel Air Force like its predecessor the Searcher I. It accommodates Electro-Optical (IR/CCD-TV) payloads or a Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) for ground surveillance.
