Description:
The SilentEyes is a micro Unmanned Aerial Vehicle being developed by Raytheon to complement sensors aboard airborne manned and unmanned platforms in areas they can not access. It allows to remove a human from harm's way with a low cost UAV, while delivering the same effectiveness. It is intended for target identification and confirmation providing real time imagery.
In May and June 2004, the SilentEyes micro-UAV was demonstrated released from an MQ-9 Predator UAV system. The micro-UAV performed as predicted providing real time imagery via the MQ-9 data link to the Predator Ground Control Station. The tests were carried out at Edwards Air Force Base, California.
