Description:
The Skylark is a family of lightweight, man-portable small UAV (Unmanned Air Vehicle) designed to carry out very close range surveillance and reconnaissance missions in support of military and paramilitary forces. Besides, Skylark is suitable for perimeter security, border and coastal surveillance, anti-terrorism surveillance and law enforcement. Elbit Systems has developed this lightweight mini-UAV to meet the requirements of the Israeli Ministry of Defense (IMoD).
The Skylark I mini-UAV has been designed to be operated by a two-man crew using the air vehicle along with a command and control portable tactical computer. The hand launched air vehicles features fully autonomous flight and provides real-time imagery and video. The payload options include daylight TV, night TV and infrared sensor as well as GPS positioning. It is powered by a single two-blade nose-mounted propeller with electric drive. With a takeoff weight of 5.5 kg the Skylark I has a flight endurance of 2 hours at ranges of five-to-ten kilometers while cruising at speeds of 20 to 40 knots.
