Description: The 96L6E is an all-altitude surveillance radar intended specially to detect ballistic missiles as well as hypersonic missiles and aircraft flying at very high altitudes. It is integrated onto an 8x8 wheeled chassis similar to the one employed by the 92N6E multi-role fire control radar. The 96L6E target acquisition radar is an optional item of the S-400 air defense system which entered service on April 28, 2007. Each S-400 battalion can be equipped with at least one 96L6E radar system.
