Description:
The Caiman 6x6 is a wheeled mine resistant, ambush protected tactical vehicle developed by Stewart & Stevenson Tactical Vehicle Systems, an Armor Holdings division, for the United States military. Armor Holdings was acquired by BAE Systems in July 2007. As of December 2007, the US Navy had ordered over 684 such vehicles for the United States Marine Corps (USMC).

Friday, March 14, 2008 US Marine Corps order #0004 under a previously awarded contract for the procurement of 1,024 Caiman 6x6 Category II Mine Resistance Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicles with Category I seating configuration. The $481.8 million contract was awarded to Stewart & Stevenson Tactical Vehicle, now BAE Mobility and Protection Systems. Deliveries are expected to complete by November 2008. The contract award was announced on March 14, 2008.
