Description: The General Dynamics European Land Systems (GDELS), formerly MOWAG, is a further development of the Eagle IV 4x4 armored vehicle featuring a larger payload capacity, increased crew protection and enhanced mobility while keeping the Eagle family of vehicles reduced cost of ownership. The Eagle V platform can accept a series of modular add-on kits to server for a variety of missions. The Eagle IV armored vehicle and Duro IIIP truck share approximately an 80% of components with the Eagle V variant. In June 2013 the German Defense Procurement Agency awarded the first production contract for 100 Eagle V 4x4 vehicles and 76 options. The Eagle V is also available using a 6x6 chassis.
The 10-ton class Eagle V can accommodate up to five persons reaching a top speed of 110 kilometers per hour thanks to its Cummings 245-hp turbocharged diesel engine in connection with an Allison 5-speed automatic transmission, the remarkable De Dion axle system with the patented roll stabilizer, the tire pressure control system and the permanent all-wheel drive give the EAGLE V superior on-road and off-road mobility. The vehicle offers a very high level of protection against ballistic threats, mines, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs) using a modular protection system. Furthermore, the vehicle is equipped with an NBC overpressure system.
