Description: The GAZ 39371 Vodnik is a 4x4 multi-purpose, all-terrain, high mobility, tactical armored vehicle intended for both military and civil customers. The spectrum of roles assigned to Vodnik includes tactical transport of personnel and equipment, reconnaissance, fire support, rescue vehicle, ambulance (BMM-1 and BMM-2), all-terrain vehicle, escort and patrol vehicle. It was specifically designed to operate in adverse terrain and weather conditions with the temperature ranging from -45 to +50 Celsius and humidity up to 98 percent. Operation in mountainous terrain was also taken into account at altitudes up tp 4,650 meters. With the Russian Army as its primary customer Vodnik is also available for the export market. According to the Russian press, completed development testing in 2002.
The Vodnik is equipped with an electric heater and winch. Its design is based on a front and rear removable modules. The front module includes the engine and control compartment for the driver. The rear compartment accommodates the passengers and the cargo and can be provided as an open or closed loading platform. The Vodnik can transport as many as 10 people including the driver. It is powered by a 175-hp liquid cooled, turbocharged diesel engine allowing a top speed of more than 110 kilometers per hour. Thanks to its modular design, the vehicle can be outfitted with mission specific equipment and weapons. The Vodnik can provide fire support using a cupola-mounted small caliber gun or mortar on the vehicle's roof.
