Description: The Palletized Load System (PLS) is a 10-wheel-drive truck and trailer system in service with the US Army as the backbone of its frontline distribution and resupply system. Designed in the 1990s primarily to carry ammunition it can transport a wide range of cargo having no need for other material handling equipment during load and unload operations. Its hydraulically powered hook arm allows to lift various flatracks or containers on or off the truck in less than one minute, and off the truck and trailer in less than five minutes. The US Army employed successfully the PLS system in military operations in Kosovo, Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan in the 1990s and 2000s.

The PLS system is available in several versions: PLS R recovery vehicle; PLS A1 features the same cab than HEMTT A4 truck system; M1075 with container handling system; and Engineering Mission Modules (EMMs) variants including dump body M6, concrete mobile mixer module M5, modular fuel farm, water distribution module, and bituminous distributor module M4. All these variants can be powered by either a CAT C-15 ACERT 600 hp (M1074 A1 and M1075 A1) or MTU Detroit diesel 500 hp DDECIV (M1074 and M1075) diesel engine allowing a top speed of 100kph. The PLS can be transported by C-5 and C-17 aircraft.
