Description: The Volk/Wolf is a family of modular, wheeled armored vehicles designed by Russia's Military Industrial Company (MIC) to provide improved protection against armor piercing (AP) ammunition and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The vehicle design is the result of the lessons learned by the Russian Armed Forces and enforcement agencies during military conflicts and counter-terrorism operations in the 2000-2010 timeframe. The Volk chassis offers a level of protection equivalent to NATO STANAG 4569 level 3 and can be equipped with remote control weapon stations. These vehicles are suitable for security, transport and combat operations acting as official vehicles, personnel carrier, mortar carrier, mobile rocket launcher, reconnaissance vehicle, communications relay post and special purpose vehicle. The Volk armored vehicle family was shown to the public for the first time at Technology in Mechanical Engineering (TBM-2010) in July 2010.

MIC developed the Volk modular vehicle family in 4x4 and 6x6 wheeled chassis versions. The vehicle can be sold unarmored and different levels of armor protection can be achieved by installing or dismantling armor kits. The armor kits can be installed by personnel without special tools and training. The Russian-made Euro-4 and Euro-5 emissions compliant YMZ-534 diesel engine developing between 240-300 hp of power is the primary powerplant developing a top speed of 120 kph. A hydro-pneumatic suspension system changes the ground clearance from 250mm to 550mm ensuring high cross country speed. The Volk family of vehicles weighs between 7,500 and 11,500 kilograms having an operational range of 1,000 kilometers. All in, the Volk represents the best produced tactical vehicle produced enterely in Russia with Russian components.

The VPK-3927 is a 4x4 version of the Volk platform developed for the Russian Army and slated to enter service in late 2015. The VPK-3927 is the basic version of the Volk and features an armored cabin and separated armored back module.
