Description: The Kamaz-43269, also known as BMP-97 (BPM-97?) or Vystrel ('Shot' in English), is a multi-purpose, high mobility tactical armored vehicle family developed by Kamaz as a replacement for BTR-80 armored vehicles within the Russian Federation Armed Forces. The vehicle is intended for operation at temperatures ranging from 45C to +50C, with relative air humidity of 98%, wind speed of up to 30 mps, in mountains terrain up to 4,500 meters of altitude. The Vystrel features a V-shaped hull for mine blast protection and 16mm thick armor plates providing class 6 ballistic protection. Powered by a quiet diesel engine with excellent off road mobility it can transport up to 10-man crew. The vehicle uses include troops and cargo transport, escort vehicle, peacekeeping, security vehicle and reconnaissance vehicle.

The Kamaz-43269 Vystrel design originates from the 1980s during the Soviet occupation of Afghanistan. The new armored car leverages the lessons learned during that conflict the Soviet troops that massively employed the BTR-80 high mobility wheeled armored vehicle. The Kamaz vehicle is 1.6 times cheaper and features ease of maintenance and repair while it does not require special driver training due to its car-like design. The vehicle's armor can withstand impacts of 12.7mm ammunition at 300 meters and 7.62mm at ranges of 1 to 30 meters. The roof-mounted rotating cupola can be fitted with a 14.5mm machine gun or 12.7mm machine gun, a 30-mm grenade launcher, an anti-tank missile system, and launchers for smoke grenades.

The Vystrel 6x6 is armored vehicle variant introduced in 2012 with larger payload. The vehicle has been used to develop special purpose vehicles such as Listva mine clearance vehicle.
