Description: The OTO Melara Model 56 is an air transportable, dismountable, lightweight towed howitzer specially suited for use by rapid reaction forces and paratroopers. Its 105mm 14-caliber gun has a maximum estimated range of 13,000 meters using rocket assisted projectiles (RAPs) or 10,200 meters firing non-assisted projectiles. It can be used either as an artillery gun using indirect fire ballistic trajectory or as anti-tank weapon using line-of-sight fire. OTO Melara designed this gun to be fully compatible with the charges and projectiles employed on the US Army M101 105mm howitzer.
