Description: MT-LB is a tracked, amphibious, low-silhouette armored vehicle developed by the Soviet Union to serve as armored personnel carrier, cargo transport vehicle, and tractor vehicle for towed guns. It is powered by a diesel engine rated at 240-hp. The rear compartment can accommodate as many as 11 troops and the roof cupola is fitted with a 7.62mm machine gun. Many variants were developed such as command post, combat engineering vehicle, recovery vehicle and radar carrier. 2S1 self-propelled howitzer and Strela-10/SA-13 air defense system are based on MT-LB chassis. Typically MT-LB are deployed along with BMP series vehicles.
