Description: The Wiesel is a lightweight, tracked, multi-purpose armored vehicle designed to be helicopter-transportable (sling-load or internally). The Wiesel also meets the German requirement for rapid deployable armored vehicles. The vehicle features high mobility, speed and survivability due to its small dimensions. It can perform several missions incorporating different weapon systems, sensors and other equipment.
The Wiesel 2 vehicle has been stretched to accommodate a 120mm mortar or ambulance equipment. The Wiesel family of vehicles are capable of carrying a TOW missile launcher or a 20mm gun, etc as its main weapon system.
The Wiesel 2 is an improved model introduced in 1996 within the Bundeswehr. To date, six versions of the air droppable Wiesel 2 vehicle have been ordered by the German Army. These vehicles are being delivered to the Division Special Operations (DSO) to perform mission involving airmobile operations.
