Due to its environmentally friendly characteristics, low costs of maintenance and ownership, and ease of operation the BR715 engine was selected to power the Boeing 717-200 short/medium range, 100-seat class jetliner. BR715 also features low fuel consumption, high fuel burn efficiency, high reliability and low noise levels.

The BR715 engine entered service in 1999 powering the Boeing 717-200. The engine thrust ranges between 18,500-lb to 22,000-lb.
