Description:
The Ivchenko-Progress D-36 is a high bypass ratio engine family providing 14,000 pounds of thrust developed to power the Yak-42 passenger aircraft and the An-72 and An-74 transport aircraft. The program aim was to provide power to the tri-jet Yak-42 airliner. Engine flight trials started in 1974 and the first version entered series production in 1977. The basic D-36 consists of three-shaft composed of 10 modules. The D-36 engine is the basis for a family of derivative engines comprising: the D-136, D-236 and D-436 aircraft engines.
The D-36-4A (Series 4A) is a variant of the D-36-3A engine modified for underwing mounting and introducing a reverser. It has been designed to power all the versions of the An-74TK-300 aircraft. The engine is manufactured by Motor Sich as the other D-36 engine versions.
