Description: The Williams International FJ44 is a family of highly reliable jet engines providing between 1,500 to 3,600 pounds of thrust and designed to power light business jet aircraft of short- to medium-range. The FJ44 engine enables light jets operations from short runways typically assigned to small turboprops. In addition, the FJ44 engine family fuel efficiency combined with its low acquisition and operating costs make light jets more attractive than turboprops and not fuel efficient turbofan-powered aircraft.

The FJ44-1 model, having a thrust range of 1,500 to 1,900 pounds, was certified by the FAA and JAA and was designed for enhanced simplicity and ease of maintenance. The FJ44-1 variant powering the Swedish SK60W trainer is qualified for acrobatic maneuvering. The FJ44-1AP is an enhanced performance version incorporating an all new fan, a dual-channel FADEC engine control and components from the FJ44-3A engine. The FJ44-1AP provides 2,100 pounds of thrust at takeoff. The FJ44-1AP was FAA-certified in 2005.

The FJ44-2 was FAA-certified in 1997 providing between 2,300 and 2,400 pounds of thrust at takeoff. The FJ44-2 uses the same core and low-pressure turbine of FJ44-1 but introducing new fan and compressor sections which enables outstanding cruise performance at high altitude. The FJ44-3 was awarded engine type certification in 2004. The thrust at takeoff has been increased out to 3,000 pounds. The FJ44-4 represents the latest development in the FJ44 engine family. This dual-channel FADEC-equipped turbofan provides 3,500 pounds of thrust at takeoff.

The FJ44-1 engine powers the Citation CJ1 and CJ1+ business jets and the Saab SK60W trainer. The FJ44-2 model has been selected to power the Citation CJ2, Eagle, SJ30-2, Learjet 25 and Raytheon Premier I business jets as well as high altitude experimental aircraft such as Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer and Scaled Composites Proteus. The FJ44-3 engine powers Citation CJ2+, CJ3 and Grob SPn jets.
